What to expect in your Osteopathy appointment at Alpha

Your friendly Osteopath at Alpha will ask you to fill out a brief form, from there you will be seen for your appointment. Your Osteopath will ask you questions about your concern to better understand your pain. You will also go through a medical history with your Osteo to determine any clues or causes of your pain. Your Osteo will use a functional screening method to assess your movement. From here, your Osteo should be able to explain to you your diagnosis and treatment plan. Treatment may involve soft tissue massage, joint manipulation and stretching. Some of our Osteopaths use dry needling and myofascial cupping as techniques. You will then be given a series of home exercises to help you strenghten or mobilise a certain area. These exercises will help you take control of your pain.

Can you use private health?

Yes. Osteopaths are registered healthcare practitioners and if you pay for extras on your health fund, Osteo should be covered. Check with your own health fund prior to your appointment to confirm.
